LPA Cost in Oxford

Fixed fees, set out in full. Two options, from £340 plus the £92 OPG registration fee.

Our fee, and the registration fee

Our fee covers preparing your LPA, acting as your Certificate Provider, and registering it with the Office of the Public Guardian.

Separately, the OPG charges £92 to register each LPA. That’s a government fee, not ours — it is paid directly to them during the registration process. Reductions and exemptions are available depending on your income and circumstances, and we’ll tell you if you’re likely to qualify.

Every price on this page excludes the £92.

Two ways to set up your LPA with A.D.E Wills

Whichever you choose, we prepare your LPA, act as your Certificate Provider (the independent person who confirms you understand what you’re signing and aren’t being pressured), and register it with the Office of the Public Guardian so it’s ready to use. The only difference between our two options is whether we handle the signing appointment for you.

Your instructions appointment can be online or a home visit, whichever suits you. The signing itself must be done in person — with Full Service we attend and witness it for you; with Self-Sign you sign it yourself at home.

Full Service LPA

We handle everything — we prepare your LPA, oversee the signing as your witness and Certificate Provider, and register it with the OPG. The hands-off choice if you’d rather leave it all to us.

From £480 online · £600 in person

Self-Sign LPA

We prepare and register your LPA and act as your Certificate Provider; you sign it yourself at home and post it back. Everything else is handled for you — £140 less than Full Service.

From £340 online · £460 in person

What the £140 buys. Signing an LPA in the wrong order invalidates it. With Full Service we attend and make sure it’s done correctly. With Self-Sign you follow our step-by-step Signing Guide and do it yourself — straightforward if you’re confident, and plenty of people are.

Prices

The Online / In-Person price difference applies to your instructions appointment only. Online is a video appointment; In-Person is at your home or our Oxford office, whichever suits you. The signing meeting is always in person — we attend it under Full Service, or you sign at home under Self-Sign.

Full Service Self-Sign
Number of LPAs In-Person Online In-Person Online

All prices exclude the Office of the Public Guardian registration fee of £92 per LPA.

Which LPA service do you need?

There are two types of LPA — Health & Welfare, which covers decisions about your care and treatment, and Property & Financial Affairs, which covers your money, bills and property. Most people set up both. Couples usually want both types each, which is four in total. Answer a few quick questions and we’ll call you back to tell you exactly what you need and talk it through.

Included in every LPA

Both options include everything below. The only difference is whether we’re with you when you sign.

Additional services

Added only if you want them, at a fixed price agreed in advance.

Ordinary Power of Attorney — covers financial decisions while you still have mental capacity. Useful for a temporary period, such as a hospital stay or a long trip.

Business LPA — if you’re a sole trader, director or partner, this protects your commercial interests separately from your personal affairs.

The Home Visit fee applies where a visit is added to another service. It’s already included in the In-Person LPA price.

If a mental capacity assessment is ever needed, we’ll talk it through with you first. We’ll only arrange one with your permission, and we’ll tell you who the assessor is and what they charge before anything is booked — so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Not sure where to start?

Our LPA Starter Guide explains, in plain English, what an LPA does, who you’ll need to appoint, and how the whole process works.

The LPA Checklist is a short worksheet to fill in before your appointment — it makes the conversation easier and means nothing gets forgotten.

LPA cost FAQs

A single Self-Sign LPA online, at £340 plus the £92 OPG fee. You can also fill in the forms yourself and pay only the £92 — plenty of people do, and for straightforward circumstances that’s a reasonable route. What you’re paying us for is getting it right first time, having a professional Certificate Provider, and someone to ask when you’re unsure.

It’s the government’s registration charge, set by the Office of the Public Guardian, payable for each LPA. It’s paid directly to them during registration — we don’t add anything to it.

Possibly. Reductions and exemptions are available based on your income and certain benefits. We’ll tell you if you’re likely to qualify and point you to the right form.

No. Identical document, identical registration. The only difference is whether we’re with you when you sign it.

No. The In-Person price covers the visits your LPA needs — the instructions appointment, and the signing appointment too if you’ve chosen Full Service. The separate Home Visit fee only applies to any additional visit beyond that, if you ask for one.

We’ll usually have your LPA prepared within a few working days. Registration with the OPG then takes considerably longer — currently several months — and that timescale is set by them, not us. It’s worth starting sooner rather than later.

See our Wills pricing, and ask us about doing both together.
