Will Writing Cost in Oxford

Every price, set out in full. Fixed fees agreed in writing before any work begins.

Fixed fees, agreed before we start

We quote a fixed fee for the service you choose, and confirm it in writing before any work begins. No hourly rates, and no invoice at the end that’s bigger than you expected. If your circumstances mean something extra would help — a trust, a Letter of Wishes — we’ll tell you what it costs and you decide.

Every In-Person and Online Will includes unlimited changes to your draft, a plain-English Clause Clarification Guide, your printed Will posted to you with a complimentary A.D.E Wills pen, and a step-by-step Signing Guide.

Our Emergency service works differently, because speed is the point — what’s included is set out with its price below.

Will writing prices

Same careful service whichever you choose. The difference is how we meet — and how quickly.

In-Person Wills

We come to you at home, or you meet us at our Oxford office. Both cost the same, because both give you an unhurried, face-to-face conversation.

£400 single · £565 couple

Online Wills

A video appointment from anywhere in the UK, with telephone available as a backup if video isn’t practical. Our lower-cost route, with exactly the same guidance.

£245 single · £405 couple

Emergency Wills

For urgent situations such as a hospital admission or imminent surgery. Instructions within 24 hours, a draft within 48, and a second independent witness arranged.

£795 single · £995 couple

Home visits: what's included in the price

We work from our Oxford office on Woodstock Road and from Aylesbury, which puts most of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the neighbouring parts of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire comfortably within reach. There’s no travel supplement anywhere in those areas — the In-Person price above is the price you pay.

Live a bit further out?

For towns that are a longer drive from either base, a £75 supplement applies. It’s confirmed in writing before anything is booked, never added afterwards.

Further afield across England and Wales we’re happy to quote for a home visit — or our Online Will service is available UK-wide at a lower fee. See the full list of towns we cover.

Not sure which applies to you? Call 01865 507174 with your postcode and we’ll tell you straight away.

Already written your own Will?

If you’ve drafted your own Will, or used an online template, we can look at it properly before you rely on it.

Our Second Opinion Service puts your draft in front of a professional Will Writer. We’ll go through it clause by clause and send you a written Clause Clarification Guide explaining in plain English what each part actually does, followed by a one-hour call to talk through what we’d recommend changing.

It’s an explanation and a set of recommendations on the drafting — not a certificate of validity. Most DIY Wills fail on how they’re signed and witnessed rather than on the wording, so we’ll provide guidance on that too.

Not sure yet? A first conversation with us is free and carries no obligation. Call 01865 507174 and we’ll tell you honestly whether you need us.

Keeping your Will up to date

A Will isn’t a one-off. Life changes — people move, families grow, executors get older — and your Will should keep up.

An update covers up to ten minor changes grouped into one go, and includes your revised Will printed and posted to you.

Single Will

£80

Couple Will

£135

Bigger changes — inserting or removing a gift or legacy, changing who inherits the residue of your estate, adding a trust, or adding a new wish such as a business succession plan — mean a new Will is drafted rather than an update. Tell us what’s changed and we’ll confirm which you need, and the fixed fee, before we start.

Where will your Will live?

Our Safe Will Plan keeps it safe, findable and up to date. Two simple plans, billed annually.

Single

£3/month

billed annually — £36 a year

Couple

£5/month

billed annually — £60 a year

Want updates built in?

Our Legacy Care Plan includes everything above, plus one minor update a year and a brand-new full Will every three years — from £10 a month.

Additional services

Added only if you want them, at a fixed price agreed in advance.

Will Signing Service — your Will must be signed in front of two independent witnesses. We’ll attend, conduct the signing correctly and act as one of them. Add our Second Witness Service and we’ll bring the other, so you don’t need to arrange anyone yourself.

The Home Visit fee applies where a visit is added to another service. It’s already included in the In-Person Will price.

If a mental capacity assessment is ever needed, we’ll talk it through with you first. We’ll only arrange one with your permission, and we’ll tell you who the assessor is and what they charge before anything is booked — so you can decide whether to go ahead.

Your Will is written by a full member of the Society of Will Writers, working to their Code of Practice and holding full professional indemnity insurance. We’re professional Will writers rather than solicitors — the same legally sound documents, usually at a lower fixed fee.

Two free guides to help you get started

Our Will Guide explains, in plain English, what a Will does, who you’ll need to name, and how the whole process works.

The Will Writing Checklist is a short worksheet to fill in before your appointment — it makes the conversation easier and means nothing gets forgotten.

Wills Pricing questions

From £245 for a single Online Will, or £400 for a single In-Person Will — at home or at our Oxford office, same price either way. Couple Wills are £405 and £565.

Yes. We agree it before we start and confirm it in writing. We don’t bill by the hour, so the figure we quote is the figure you pay. If you later decide you’d like something added — a trust, a Letter of Wishes — we’ll tell you what it costs and you decide whether to go ahead.

Your quoted fee covers the Will itself — unlimited draft changes, printing and posting are all included, and the price won’t change for the service you’ve agreed.

Some clients decide during the process that they’d like something more — a trust, a Letter of Wishes, help with the signing. Those are separate services with their own fixed prices, listed above. If one would help, we’ll say so and tell you exactly what it costs, but nothing is added unless you ask for it.

If you’re having an In-Person Will, the home visit is included — the £400 single or £565 couple price covers us coming to you, and there’s no supplement anywhere in our core area around Oxford and Aylesbury. For towns that are a longer drive from either base, a £75 supplement applies, confirmed in writing before anything is booked.

A home visit added to a different service is charged separately, at the price listed above.

We send your invoice with your draft Will. Payment is due within 14 days, and before we post your final Will or attend a signing meeting. So you see the full draft before anything is due.

Our fees are fixed and published in full, which many firms don’t do. We’re professional Will writers rather than solicitors, which is how we keep prices clear and predictable. We’d always encourage you to compare like for like.
