Emergency Will Writing in Oxfordshire
We come to you — at home, in hospital or in a hospice — and take your instructions within 24 hours.
We know this is a difficult time
If you’re reading this, something has probably changed very quickly — a diagnosis, an admission to hospital, or surgery that’s come sooner than expected. You may be arranging this for yourself, or for someone you love.
Whatever the situation, you don’t need to work out the steps on your own. Call us and we’ll tell you plainly what’s possible, how quickly we can act, and what it will cost. There’s no obligation, and nothing to prepare before you ring.
When an urgent Will is the right call
Our emergency service is for situations where waiting isn’t sensible. That usually means the situations listed here — and it’s just as often a son, daughter, spouse or close friend making the call because the person themselves isn’t well enough to. We’re used to speaking with relatives first, and we’ll guide you through what’s needed.
A terminal diagnosis
Or a recent change in prognosis that means waiting isn't sensible.
Surgery in the coming days
A major operation scheduled sooner than expected, with things you'd rather settle first.
In hospital or a hospice
We come to the ward or the room, and work around visiting hours.
A rapid decline in health
Where strength, mobility or alertness is falling away quickly.
Not sure this is urgent?
If there’s no immediate pressure, our standard home visit Will service or online Will service will cost you considerably less. Call us either way — we’ll tell you honestly which one you need.

I cannot thank Edward at A.D.E wills enough for the professional and personal service I received from him. I had previously tried two different will writing services to no avail. Once the initial meeting was over with their representatives, there was absolutely no follow up at all. Edward on the other hand was not only knowledgeable and thorough, but also extremely patient with me and my situation, replying swiftly to any questions and concerns I had. It was a huge relief to finally receive my will and store it away safely knowing that every conceivable legal issue was covered. I am completely happy with the service I received from Edward and would totally recommend A.D.E wills to anyone.Posted on Google Marie HennessyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have been impressed by the care and individual attention given to the process of writing my will and involving my family. ADE Wills was able to draw on a range of specilist expertise in complex matters which I highly appreciated. Edward Richings was always calm and patient, no detail was too small for him to respond. Very good value given the time spent and expertise available.Posted on Google Stu Campbell-CarranTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Edward is a true gentleman and consummate professional. He handled my late Mum’s powers of attorney and Will, with compassion and grace, when she was suddenly taken gravely ill. He helped make what was a very difficult period much more manageable - and removed the sudden anxieties around Mum dying without having her estate in order. I highly recommend him and will be working with him on our own provisions soon. Brilliant service. Flawless.

How our emergency Will service works
One phone call sets everything in motion — we handle the rest.
You call us
Tell us the situation. We’ll confirm straight away whether we can help and how quickly, and arrange to come to you — at home, in hospital or in a hospice.
We prepare your Will
We take your instructions within 24 hours and have a draft ready within 48 — written in plain English, and read through with you so you’re certain it says what you want.
We oversee the signing
We return with a second independent witness and make sure your Will is executed correctly, so it’s legally valid.
If it helps to prepare, our Will Writing Checklist sets out the details we’ll ask for — but please don’t let gathering paperwork delay your call. We can work with what you have.
Capacity, handled with care
To make a valid Will, a person needs mental capacity — broadly, an understanding of what they own, who they might provide for, and what signing does. Illness, exhaustion and medication can all affect this, and it varies from day to day.
We assess capacity gently, as a normal part of taking instructions. It isn’t a test. Where illness is serious, we may also recommend a doctor confirms it at the same time — long-established practice that makes the Will much harder to challenge later. A doctor’s assessment is arranged separately and billed at cost.
One honest note: this is a priority service with eligibility criteria, and occasionally a case isn’t one we can properly take on. If that’s true of yours, we’ll tell you quickly and point you elsewhere rather than leave you waiting.

Once the Will is done
Getting the Will signed comes first. Afterwards, there are two things worth knowing about.
A Lasting Power of Attorney lets someone you trust act for you while you’re still alive — often the more pressing document when someone is seriously ill, and it needs the same mental capacity a Will does. And a Will only works if it can be found, which is where safe storage comes in.
We won’t raise any of this while there’s urgent work to do. Ask us whenever you’re ready.
Urgent Will questions
Yes — it’s a routine part of this service. We’re used to working around visiting hours, ward routines and nursing staff, and we’re discreet about it. If there are restrictions on visitors, tell us when you call and we’ll work out what’s possible.
This is more common than people expect, and it doesn’t stop a Will being made. A Will can be signed with a simple mark rather than a full signature, or someone else can sign it on the person’s behalf, in their presence and at their direction. We’ll be there to make sure it’s done correctly either way.
Yes. Speed doesn’t weaken a Will — poor drafting and a bad signing do. This is the same Will writing service we provide to every client, using the same clauses; what’s compressed is our timetable, not the care taken. We oversee the signing ourselves, we bring an independent witness, and where illness is serious we’ll recommend a doctor confirms capacity, which is strong evidence if anyone ever questions the Will.
